Let’s reshape overwork culture into sustained vitality for all

Do you want to enjoy your working life?

The reason so many of us are burning out is because we are working like a machine in the corporate world.

This machines crushes the soul.

“Once you stop trying to get reality to conform to your ideas and ideals and let yourself see, feel, and express what is, you will feel more empowered to deal effectively with your present situation.”

— Susan Campbell, P.H.D. “Getting Real”

Work as machine.

or

Work as life.

  • Machine

Are you working in a machine and like a machine?

    Rigid

    Replaceable

    Hierarchical

  • Life

Are you working in a living system and like a living system?

    Fluid

    Interdependent

    Networked

“Coaching with Kat really brought me back down to reality, spurred my desire to find a career that fits me better, while helping me recognize what I really love about my current job. It has made me more able to look at my situation objectively. It really made me examine how I truly feel and react towards my work environment.”

Consider working with me if…

  • You value an authentic connection with your self and others at work.

  • You hold yourself accountable for your actions and have integrity to share honestly and renegotiate commitments.

  • You are motivated to learn from reality and are open to a commitment to do the work to create positive change.

  • Health is a priority for you that you want to invest in right now in your life.

  • You want to validate each other's brilliance and contribution to the process.

  • You are open to learn about setting healthy boundaries.

In terms of burnout, consider the following views on transforming burnout:

Empowered Living System

  • Energy is free.

  • New understandings in academic science are shifting our beliefs at work to align to the practical way we live, inviting an understanding of the natural objects and relations between them. (Smulsky, 2019)

  • Our views are shared with flexibility that are open to feedback. Welcoming this feedback is embodied when we are checking in on our emotional and physical capacity.

  • Look at ways to consistently move away from endless growth and consumerism.

  • We are all interconnected. We have a responsibility to support living beings because of this interconnection.

  • We believe our every thought, word, and action effects our soul’s ability to live and breath!

  • Using gratitude as a tool for awakening to our highest purpose and how we perform our best is necessary (Emmons, 2007).

  • We believe that each of our unique understandings of our own soul is personal and a journey for each of us to discover through our own inner work, but we don’t have to do this inner work alone.

Body Based Approach

  • The body holds the keys to understanding the needed transformations in the workplace through mindfulness and self-compassion (Germer & Neff, 2019).

  • The body and heart share what the soul knows for us to play this out in our lives by learning to emotionally regulate ourselves.

  • The body and heart share what we are ready to experience and it’s up to us to listen.

  • The body and heart help us be self-actualized beings.

  • The box of a career or taking on a specialist role is not always helpful to our development.

  • Multiple careers and specialties are powerful. We can welcome them into successful ways of making money and be fulfilled in our soul’s work!

  • Our journey is learning right timing.

  • Our journey is to say yes to our health as a priority NOW, if we are reading this.

Corporate Machine Tendencies

  • The systemic oppression of Patriarchal and Colonized culture show up more strongly in hierarchical organizations.

  • Abuse of power commonly starts from the top down, similar to how a machine functions where parts are replaceable in lieu of alive & interdependent.

  • We treat our employees as commodities that need to produce to meet our profit center goals. We may all be guilty of doing this at some point in our careers!

  • This machine functioning plays out strongest because of decisions that are based on profit first.

  • Even with kind hearts, we may not recognize the water we're swimming in at work, aka the culture. We may not see the water and we may not know it's impacts. This degrades our common humanity and leads to burnout!
